I'm writing this post at 11:43pm and there is still a streak of sunlight on the horizon. In about 4 hours the sun will rise again on a new day in St Andrews, and one day less before we leave.
Sharon and I have been relaxing back into a regular routine of reading and writing most of the day, broken up by the occasional trip to the grocery store, visit from a friend, or quirky British TV show. It is hard to believe that our time here is drawing to a close! We have less than a week before we pack our bags and leave St Andrews to go to London (where we will stay for a couple of days to allow Sharon to do some research for her dissertation) before flying home.

My reading has been varied and interesting, filling my mind with new ideas for my classes at school. I feel so enriched and deepened by the experience we've had and I am anxious to share what I've learned with my students. I'm trying to keep up with my booklist (see the link to the right), and I've also included there a list of historic places we've visited and the lectures/seminars I've attended while I've been here. Perhaps that may be of interest to some of you. I am finally resigning myself to the fact that I won't have time to read all of the books I would like to before leaving. Alas, my list of books to read keeps getting longer and the time keeps getting shorter! I think, more than anything else, the luxury of free time to read (and the proper rest and freedom from distraction that allows me read without falling asleep from exhaustion or getting interrupted) is what I will miss most once the fellowship is over.
This summer promises to keep us both busy, as we have several commitments lined up already, including a couple weeks of camp ministry for me and presenting at a conference in Oxford for Sharon. In between we plan to squeeze in as many visits to family and friends as we can. We are both really looking forward to reconnecting with everyone. As much as we have enjoyed the time away and all of the adventures we have had traveling overseas, it has reminded us again of the value of home and the joy of being situated near so many people we love so much.
Hi Joel,
I can't beleive you are coming home so soon! When do you and Sharon expect to be arriving in Columbus? We look forward to seeing both of you soon...
Christiana (and Bill)
We'll be back the evening of June 13th. Mom and Dad are picking us up at the airport. Our flight arrives at 8:30pm.
