This has been a busy week so far. I am trying to go to as many lectures and seminars as I can. This week I've been to a seminar and a lecture on the Pentateuch, a graduate seminar on the Psalms, a theology breakfast at our church, a lecture by one of the senior professors at the divinity school, and I've had lunch with an Old Testament professor. I am really enjoying all of the opportunities to dialogue with other Christians who are firm in their faith and yet not afraid to ask hard questions. It is a challenging and stimulating environment.

In between classes I am still doing a lot of reading, working through the Old Testament stuff I started a few days ago and still plodding through a book on Biblical interpretation. For my devotional reading I am in 2 Kings right now. It is nice to have the time to read these sections of the Bible carefully, since in my teaching I only skim the surface of Kings and Chronicles. I am also reading 'The Everlasting Man' by G.K Chesterton, which is a nice break from the dense theology stuff while still being thought-provoking.
Sharon and I are forming some great friendships here. We have been pleasantly surprised at how strong the Christian community is at St Andrews and are definitely feeling strengthened in the faith, overflowing with thankfulness (Col. 2:7).
I am very happy for you and Sharon. I cannot say it enough, but it seems that you guys are having lots of fun. I am also suprised at a strong Christian community at St. Andrews. I thought that St. Andrews, like most of the UK, was secular. Or is St. Andrews just an exception?
There are more things that I could say and questions that I could ask, but since I'm short on time, I'll do them later, probably via e-mail (if you don't mind).
